Let me reiterate what I said earlier in this thread and perhaps expand on it a bit.

Arisaman not turning himself in is probably the smartest thing he can do. His case will be the easiest to get a conviction on (for inciting riots, and terrorism.) The prosecution will go for the easiest conviction first, and build future convictions on the first one being found guilty. (Even without the concept of legal precedent, it should be easier to get more convictions when you have already attained one.)

The Public Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), focusing on civil servants for smuggling oil in the South, has made an usual discovery - Songkhla politicians had dug waterways to hide oil boats in their backyards, the PACC secretary-general said yesterday.

Ampol Wongsiri said after he received complaints from Phatthalung residents and gas station owners about officials taking bribes to accommodate the oil smuggling, a PACC special team was sent to investigate. They visited Phatthalung as well as Songkhla, Trang and Satun.

They found oil being smuggled into Thailand in trucks modified to contain at least 400 litres and in large fishing boats for distribution at retail gas stations. Every day, up to 500 trucks transport illegal oil from Satun's Wang Prachan border, he said. There are 22 oil-storage locations and officials were seen taking bribes at each checkpoint.

He said oil smuggling, backed by local and national politicians, led to Bt10-billion in taxes lost per year. Diesel is normally priced at Bt30 per litre; but smuggled diesel is sold at Bt25 to Bt26 per litre. Ampol said the smuggled oil was also low in quality and could damage the engine after prolonged usage.

Hmm besides it is a news story from today (kind of hard to have gone with it, unless they are psychic and not just psychotic!), It doesn't name any names or political affiliations. I certainly am amazed that any smuggling goes on in any direction across Thai borders!

The atrongest case for terrorism and inciting people to riot is against Arisaman. I don't think he'll come back unless PTP forms the next coalition.

Ah, but look how much good it did Thaksin to have his PPP crew win the biggest coalition partnership? And Thaksin had money to make moves with too. Arisman is toast if PTP and Thaksin don't hold all the levers of power. He does come across as either a moron, or heedless zealot. Possibly both.

There is also another faction tasked to fight covertly with every means against those that serve the elite, including biased media, ministers, soldiers, police, civil servants, independent organisations and judges. If necessary, these people must be eliminated. Any red shirt that has a chance and is near an intended target will be tasked to do the job.

5 years after Thaksin was removed by the generals, the poor are just as poor, the rich are even richer, the police is still as corrupt and incompetent as ever and the the same goes for the politicians.

Has there been any progress since 1932? Has there been any progress since 2006?

There have been noticeable gains for the Thai non-working classes since 2006 - at both ends of the scale. But from 2001-2006, poverty levels increased and HIV soared (source: OPEC). You know who was PM during that time, I suspect.

Since Thaksin fled the scene of the crime; the poor are not as poor, their children have a great deal more opportunity now than under Thaksin, and whilst the rich may be richer, you'll find that's generally the case in this wonderful world of ours, regardless of nation or corruption levels or even poverty... the police aren't nearly as corrupt as Thaksin's, or as willing to shoot innocents in broad daylight, the politicians Abhisit is saddled with will do what they do, but it's ridiculous to claim corruption has increased in the last 5 years following Thaksin absconding with hundreds of billions of Thai taxpayer revenue.

Thailand's future is really rather bullish, in stark contrast with much of the rest of the globe...

I dare say that he would. He looks a man who's so full of hatred for everyone and everything, he's no longer worth the oxygen he's breathing. He just wants to burn and loot and kill, chaos for the sake of it I suspect.

He's a thug, hired by Thaksin to be a thug, and menace those who weren't able to be brought around by Thaksin's bribes. The Thai media shouldn't be giving him the time of day, unless they secretly want to encourage thuggish animal brutes like him. ahem.
