Anyone had this done in last few years here in Bkk ??

I had it done 4 years ago and wondering if wonderous new thai breakthroughs popped up.

Last time had Doc Panya at Bumgrab.........also 6 months prior at Samitivej...

Think I have done the other knee now.......slight pain, not same before when could hardly stand let alone walk on it.......but the ol joint is clicking when I walk like the disk is popping out with every step.

I am facing the same issue and have the same symptoms. According to orthopedist at Bumungrad I have osteoarthritis (45ys old!!!) likely due to a long history of contact sports. Does arthroscopic surgery help to ease pain and clicking sounds? Doc wasn't very helpful when I asked this question to him directly.

I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee some 12 years ago at Samitivej hospital. Checked in late on a Sunday evening, operation on Monday morning and on the plane home Thursday afternoon. Total cost THB 86,000.

Thanks...I think the name was Mason....have not searched again myself yet.

I used Panya last time and while he was excellent, his bed side manner in follow ups sucked big time.

Arthroscopy in early knee osteoarthritis is performed to remove debris from the joint; this is usually bits of cartilage or calcified tissue that accumulates in the knee due to old trauma or "overuse". It is a relatively minimally invasive procedure and can have very good results in terms of pain relief and joint mobility but, obviously, do not alter the progression of the osteoarthrosis.

Combine this with non-weight bearing exercises such as cycling and the outcomes are usually better.. The cartilage covering the bone ends in the joint do not have a separate blood supply like the bone itself, it relies for nutrient and oxygen supply from the synovial fluid in the joint and also depends on pressure gradients or pressure changes within the joint during exercise that serve to "pump" nutrients into the cartilage..
