Pakistani police foil terror attack on country's parliament

ISLAMABAD (BNO NEWS) -- Pakistani police have foiled a terrorist plot to attack the country's Parliament building in Islamabad, local media reported on Tuesday.

Dawn News Television reported that a suspected terrorist was arrested late last week on suspicion of plotting to attack the Parliament House on Tuesday, when President Asif Ali Zardari delivered a statement to the parliament.

Pakistani Interior Minster Rehman Malik said that security in the capital was beefed up after the suspect confessed during police investigations that he had planned to attack Parliament on Tuesday.

Other details about the attempted attack were not immediately released.
