2011-03-27 17:56:49 GMT+7 (ICT)

KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- Taliban insurgents on Sunday claimed to have captured dozens of policemen in northeastern Afghanistan on Saturday, a spokesman for the group said.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said insurgents captured 50 policemen of "the puppet forces" near the center of Kandi district in Kunar province on early Saturday afternoon. He provided few details.

"The said team of policemen came from Nuristan province and, as they approached the area, they came under a Mujahideen surprise attack," Mujahid said. "As a result [..], all the minions have been captured with the documents revealing their posts and ranks."

Afghan police confirmed that several vehicles had been stopped in Kunar province on Saturday and said that a number of men had been taken, but gave no specific number. Their conditions were not known.

How the hell does something like this happen if ISAF are saying that they are on top of things in Afghanistan?? Afghans are untrainable as policing or security operators. This is proof. Which leads to my question. WHY are we still persisting with them when everybody knows [just don't want to admit] that the mission is failing miserabley and we are better off withdrawing entirely and let them crack on to what they do best. Grow opium and killing each other. How is this our problem ?
