400K Non O Marriage Money

Featured Replies

Hi,

I tried a search, but didn't really find an answer...

I am going to cm office in a week for my first non o marriage extension. As its my first the money has been sat in my Thai bank for 2 months already.

I am just wondering if I can spend any of the money whilst under consideration. I don't want to ask at the office, as I don't want to rock the boat with it being my first time.

Wife and I are after a new car, so this money is earmarked for that when safe to spend.

Thanks

Just to clarify, I mean after I have shown the money and given all the docs etc. Can I spend it at that point?

Not a good idea until you have the approved extension of stay stamped in your passport.

I would not consider it safe as in the past money was sometimes checked by Bangkok - but that was before the requirement that money be in account 2 months so not sure if they are still doing it.

Ok, thanks. Car will wait. :-)

I have a question about this. Can this money be in a foreign currency account?

Thanks

In a Thai bank FC accounts have been both accepted and not accepted in the past so best to confirm before.

I have always dipped into the 400k while under consideration with no problems.

Maybe I was just lucky. ;)

Just to clarify, I mean after I have shown the money and given all the docs etc. Can I spend it at that point?

I was never checked again after that point, so I don't see why not. I didn't take any chances or need to spend below threshold however.
