Is Thailand Cooler And Quieter?

Featured Replies

We have been away from Thailand for a few years straight. We returned two weeks ago to visit relatives here.

Remembering Thailand how it used to be; two things really stand out;

1. Thailand seems a lot cooler. Normally in Bangkok it was consistently hot. We have hardly turned on the airconditioner since being here. Is it cooler or just us?

2. The streets seem to be deserted especially of foreigners. Walking around Silom Day or night there seems to be a big absence of foreigners. The once usually packed street, cafes and go go bars are all but empty. What happened?

Maybe if we were here continuously we would not have noticed any gradual changes, but coming back after a few years these changes really stand out.

The two are related.

Because there are not so many hot sweaty foreigner bodies around the place feels cooler.

the hot weather is back!

Yes last week was unusual as far as the weather, the week before very hot and if today is anything to go by, it's going to get hot again. Next you will notice folk with the sniffles?

As for fewer farang on the streets, for sure that is tourism down?

Cooler - for sue it's been colder than normal for this time of year. Quieter - not sure about that?
