Official race to take place between Bangkok and Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- The Car Club of Thailand will be conducting a race on Saturday 9 April which will begin at the Central World shopping complex in Bang Na in Bangkok and finish at the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping complex. It is expected about 300 vehicles will take part in the race, so it might not be a very good idea to be driving from Bangkok to Pattaya on Saturday.

I hope their insurance covers them for racing ;)

is this for real ???? , will the police not set up road blocks to allow the racing cars to go through, or will they just join normal traffic, which would be HIGHLY dangerous !

For revheads there will be a showing of the movie Fast and Furious

gobsmacked !, only in Thailand !

I would seriously doubt if this was a racing race as such, probably more like a point to point and collect a clue to get to the next point, that would be more like Car Club outings, but hey - you never know here!

Around the area where where my wife's folks live there is a rally from time to time.

Its quite a hilly area near Pak Chong with tracks all over the place. The motors are usually heavily modified pick ups and they don't hang around. Not really much of any safety as they tear around the hills and through the village.

I think this "race" will be more of a car club jaunt rather than a cannonball run, a bit like chopper riding clubs pretending to be "outlaws" on a Sunday ride.
