Anyone know if MBK is open today? If it is open will most shops there be closed?

Open 356 days a year. some shop may be close but majority of the shops open

Was at MBK yesterday. It was packed to the gills. The food court was especially busy. Suspect lots of people avoiding getting splashed. You can spend the whole day there and not spend that much money especially if you have a Kasikorn Bank ATM card to watch 88 baht movies. (That's another story...)
