Five more people killed in Karachi violence in southwest Pakistan

KARACHI, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least five people on Wednesday were killed in different incidents as violence continued in Karachi, southwest Pakistan, Geo television reported.

Three individuals were killed by unidentified gunmen who opened fire against them near the Aziz Bhatti Police Station. The armed men were in a vehicle on Rashid Minhas Road when they spotted their targets.

The victims were later revealed to be relatives, reportedly father, son and father-in-law. An investigation was launched in order to determine the cause of the shooting.

In Malir area, a police officer was found dead on early Wednesday. The law agent was only identified as Ayub, from Jalbani Goth. Police said that he was kidnapped and then murdered.

In Karachi's Ranchore Line area, another violent incident took place. A 25-year-old man, Ibrahim, was killed by gunmen. Violence in the region continues escalating and spiraling out of authorities' control.

On Tuesday, eight people were killed in various violent incidents. In the morning, unidentified gunmen shot dead three people in Korangi, Sarjani and Kharadar. A bus was later attacked by unknown gunmen near a gas station in Shah Latif.

As a result, one person identified as Zia Ul-Haq was gunned down. Three more fatalities were reported in Gulbahar area. The last victim was assassinated in the Baras Chowk area.

Last week, three government employees were killed in the Mehmoodabad area while collecting information for the census. Two of the employees worked at the Karachi Water and Sewage Board and the other at the city's Fire Department.

An estimated 500 people have been killed due to violence this year in the Karachi region, according to the Sindh Home Ministry.
