Non Imm O 90 Day Visa Query

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've tried searching this but I can't find my particular case and keep getting confused! Hope someone here can help :)

Basically, I'm volunteering in Thailand this summer, and then wanting to travel a bit, but will be staying for 3 and half months... 105 days. I'm aware I can get the 90 day non imm O visa for voluntary work, but I've read/heard it's hard to get this extended, so was wondering if I could leave the country and go to Laos perhaps (I'm aware a visa is needed for that country, but it is close to where I will be) and then come back overland and get the 15 days visa exemption thing? I'm a British citizen. Just wondering if this would be allowed because I also read somewhere something only being allowed 90 days within 6 months, all getting very confusing!

Thank you in advance!

There is no 90 days in 6 months rule since November, 2008, and when there was it had nothing to do with time spent in Thailand on a visa entry. Upon entry wih a Non-Immigrant Visa you will be stamped permitted to stay for 90 days, if you exit without a re-entry permit, that permission to stay will voided. You can make "Visa exempt' entries by land and receive 15 days, or make an entry by air and receive 30 days.

You are aware that any work in Thailand requires a work permit by law?
