Extension Of Stay, Reason, Father Of Thai Child

Featured Replies

I was 3 month ago at the new Udon Thani Immigration and tried to extend my Tourist visa for a month.

The Immigration officer advised me, that I as a father of Thai children could extend my stay for two month with the right papers.

I had that papers and one of my children and my GF had been with me also.

So, I got to month and the advise, I could,

after the two month, go over the border to Vientiane get two weeks allowance zo stay and when that two weeks expired, I could come back to get again two month extension.

So, I came back as I was told, after the two month extension and the new two weeks stay after the border run expired.

But, now I was told, the Immigration office got a new advise, back to back extension of stay for family reason, child are not possible.

As I understand only two times the year possible and I should go out country, make Visarun (2 weeks or 1 month) and than I would get again my two month extension.

Is that now the truth? Or?

On 10.5. I need my extention or have to leave for Visarun or to make a Visa somewhere (Narathiwat-Kota Baruh?)

I am in Bangkok now and have to decide and to choose.

Are that special Extention regulations known?

Do I get now in Bangkok again an extention for two month? I have the right papers.

Kind regards

The 60 day extension is not given back-to-back, but after 60 a 60 day extension leaving and getting a visa exempt entry and extend that entry again with 60 days is normally allowed. Of course it depends on your local immirgation office, some have their own rules regarding this.

You can only get the extension at the immigration offcie for the area where your child lives.

With the birth certificate naming you as a father you can get a single non-O from a neighbouring country, Australia will give a multiple non-O and unsure about Vietnam and Indonesia.

Thank you Mario 2008,

as the child lives in Udon T. And I am now in Bangkok, I can forget that extention anyway regarding to your post.

Reading about the far outside new Immi. and its negative sides, I have to think for one of the other solutions.

Kind Regards
