I flew with them to Franfurt so if it is the same hotel

-it is an " ok " hotel but nothing flash. I can't remember the name of it.

It is naturally close to the airport. In our case we didnt spend much time in the hotel anyway because the connecting flight to Frankfurt leaves

very early. After arriving at about 1am at the hotel all passengers on the Frankfurt flight were on the minibus back to the airport at about 5 am ! Anyway it's a place to rest for a while - better than

walking around inside a terminal building

I think the OP was referring to single fares.

My wife and I did that trip about 5 years ago and if the same the stopover is at a fantastic hotel called The tamarind (macram in Thai).

Gated tropical gardens and a swimming pool.

Really great curry buffet, excellent!

Ive done that trip with them several times and usually but not always they will take you to a beach front hotel in Negombo which is a perfectly acceptable place, you will also get a very adequate buffet breakfast there before being transferred to the airport,....

This topic name should be SriLankan Airlines. I know Thailand is a bit of a time warp for many, but it did change it's name in the year of 1998 AD (western calendar). 13 years ago by today date laugh.gif I have used this airline often, hotels provided are decent enough for me and typically 5 star Srilanakan standard, 3.5 / 4 star western standard, after saying that, all have been solid and not much BS, as a general comment, rooms seem to work there, compared to Thailand !!!!. I have never been disgusted or anything. Things are pretty settled in CMB these days and since the terminal upgrade a few years ago, it is not painful at all. Only complaint for the CMB to BKK sector is the cabin crew don't crack down on some "habits" that can be considered disgusting by westerners. Well very disgusting. Tip, pay for an upgrade on that sector.

My advise, go for it, you will meet some lovely people.

As stated, the hotels are pretty good. One tip, the BKK-CMB sector often seems to be overbooked and they look to upgrade folk. Twice I made it to first class and this was exclusively Westerners despite the fact that overwhelmingly the rest of the passengers were Sri Lankans.

Tis nice to sitting quaffing a decent champagne knowing you would still be struggling to find an overhead locker back in economy.

For what its worth I dress reasonably and get to check in early. Might not happen for you but this is one airline where its worth a shot. :)

I'm with you, I still call Myanmar Burma!

What bad habits is that person talking about? never seen any apart from British/English drunks. If that is what he means I agree.
