webfact Posted May 12, 2011 Share Posted May 12, 2011 Pheu Thai caucus to endorse PM candidate By The Nation Pheu Thai Party members will endorse the party's candidate for prime minister at a caucus on Monday. "To avoid any confusion, Pheu Thai will name the prime minister candidate by a party vote," party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said yesterday. The party's executive board on Wednesday finalised the nominations of 125 candidates for proportionate voting and 375 candidates for direct voting, he said. The last step was for party members to elect the candidate for the No 1 slot on the party list, he said. Pheu Thai officials said the executive board decided to recommend Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of former prime minister Thaksin, to take pole position. The Bhum Jai Thai Party plans to field no more than 190 candidates for the 375 House seats up for grabs via the July 3 direct vote, party spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said. "The party's nominations will be based on the popularity of aspiring candidates among their constituents," he said. For the proportionate vote, the party will offer a full list of 125 candidates, he said. The 25 former MPs who defected from other parties will also be included, he said. Bhum Jai Thai should emerge as the third largest party, he said. So if Big Brother wants to nominate his baby sister as a potential puppet PM, then do it, dammit, and stop wasting time with a caucus. What a circus! No doubt that is part of it. For appearances sake. See 'we are a real party' not a sock-puppet party, so you can't disband us over this formality..
