BANKURA, INDIA (BNO NEWS) -- A bus accident on Monday left at least 12 people dead and 50 more injured on a road in West Bengal, eastern India, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

The accident took place on a road at Meghnath jungle in West Bengal's Bankura district. A private bus lost control and overturned due to circumstances currently unknown.

The driver of the bus was also killed in the crash along 11 more people. The many injured passengers were rushed to the Sammilani Medical College in Bankura town. The bus departed from Purulia and was heading to Kolkata.

Also on Monday, ten tourists died after a mini van fell into a deep gorge in Chamba district, northern India. Ten people, including three women and four children, died and two others injured.

The incident took place as the vehicle lost control and fell into the 250 meters-deep gorge at Jot on Khajjiar-Chamba road. The mini van was carrying tourists from Khajjiyar to Chamba. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

In eastern India, one person was killed and 24 people injured after a bus crashed into a motorcycle. The accident took place on a road near Saijpur village in Bhagalpur district. The driver of the motorcycle was killed on the spot.

The passenger bus was transiting at a high speed when reportedly the driver lost control and hit a motorcycle. Afterwards, the over-crowded bus fell off the bridge into the Orhani River.

The vehicle was heading to Belhar village after departing from Banka. The injured passengers were rushed to the Banka Sadar hospital.
