The first twenty on the party list, also the most likely to get an MP seat, seem well deserving people with years of valuable work in PTP or it's swallowed smaller parties. The UDD leaders are probably included for their valuable work last year ?

Where's Mingkwan? Is he a constituency MP?

And, how many of those are red shirt leaders?

The trio k. Jatuporn, Natthawut and Dr. weng are UDD leaders. K. Korkaew may be a constituency candidate in a Bangkok District like last year. Not sure who else has expressed the willingness to serve the people as political party candidate. Mind you, There are only so many you can put on the first 20 positions ;) Interesting is to know who at the top is representing a specific faction or swallowed party?

There are at least 6 in the Top 20 that have overtly been involved with the Red Shirts. At least four of the six are currently facing criminal charges (#7, #8, #12, and #16).

Hard to not draw the PTP=Thaksin=UDD yet again :)

Some of the ones missing from the top 20 have only about 2 weeks left to find another party if they choose to show their dissatisfaction with PTP leadership and their place in the roster :)

Number 10 is an ex policeman who did his best to try to dig up dirty deeds on Democrat MPs when in uniform, but failed.

Just because Yinglak is number one, it doesn't mean she has to be PM.

She may just try to win the election with sweet platitudes such as yesterdays,(it sounds so much better in Thai)

: "I want to resolve the situation, not(take)revenge."

And after winning, hand over the hard work to one of the workhorses.

I'm interested in where Thaksin "Pastry Gate" lawyer, Pichit, lands on the Pheu Thai Party-list.

Meanwhile, Pichit Chuenban, Thaksin's personal lawyer, is on the list of party-list MP candidates. Pichit was sentenced to six months in prison for contempt of court after allegedly handing out a bag of cookies stuffed with Bt2 million to court officials.

The Supreme Court sentenced three key members of the legal team of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to six months in prison each yesterday over the 2 Million Baht snack box incident. Lead lawyer Pichit Chuenban, legal assistant Supasri Srisawat, and the coordinator of the legal team, Thana Tansiri, were all found guilty.

Didn't k. Thaksin say something similar in one of his video links "I'm not bend on revenge, I want to help all and make them rich', or something similar ?

"Thaksin says, clone repeats' :bah:

If PTP gets 40% of party-list votes / seats like in the 2007 election under PPP banner, that's 50 party-list MP's. This suggests the first 20 on the list are more-or-less guaranteed to get a seat, become MP :ermm:

Enough Buccholz!! What is the point? If anybody wants to look at a photo of the top 20 of the PTP Party List, let them look it up. You really are a waste of my bandwidth at times.

Look upon it as a community service. Sure all of us can (try to) look up those pictures, but that would be a waste of time, and sometimes lots of time. Having finished most of the PTP top-20, I hope someone will put effort in giving us the top-20 of other parties. It's like knowing your friends, enemies, local political chaps :)

It's called information.

Do you have additional information on the candidates that you would care to share?

It's a photo, Buccholz, a photo, that's all. (and possibly a way to get your post count up, but for what reason I don't know, does it add gravitas?)

Visitors to the park’s Vareekunchorn restaurant will have the option of tucking in to an “Exotic Buffet” of tiger, lion, elephant and giraffe, for just Bt4,500 a head.

If PPD is concerned about bandwidth he could just click ignore. Then only quoted posts (like his where he brought up the photo and info again) would show up.

The photos AND the background information are useful. The connections to Thaksin and all the crap that has happened is very very important. The time savings from having everyone individually look things up is massive! (Plus I am FAR too lazy to do it all myself!) I am surprised that anyone would object to information directly related to the topic he is reading (Like who are these top 20 PTP list candidates?) Unless, there might be a political agenda in wanting them to remain unknown?

You're a spoil sport, dear Mistress. Still I wonder what the average network connection is with most TV members nowadays. My desktop at home on Bangkok has 6Mbps TrueInternet, but outside BKK things may be worse. For mobile phone users connection speeds may be abysmal as well and how much details can you see on a 1 by 2 inch screen anyhow?

THAI ELECTION 2011

Ten red leaders to figure in Pheu Thai party list

By The Nation

Opposition hopes to cash in on huge support base of the mass movement; Upheaval in party as former MPs protest against being demoted to accommodate red-shirt leaders

At least 10 red-shirt leaders will stand as party-list candidates for the Pheu Thai Party in the July election in a bid to draw massive numbers of votes from the red-shirt movement.

At a party meeting late last night, a number of former MPs, who were expecting to be at the top of the party list, protested the decision to put the names of red-shirt leaders ahead of them. Some of them, mostly from the Northeast, have even threatened to resign from the party and refused to submit their registration forms.

Many well-known figures, including Mingkwan Sangsuwan who had earlier proposed himself as a prime ministerial candidate, were not in the top 20 of the list to be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) today. He has yet to submit his registration form.

The positions in the so-called "safe zone" area in the 125-seat list are between 1 and 60, with 1-20 reserved traditionally for party executives and financiers. But the positions from 21 to 60 are reportedly filled with red-shirt leaders instead of former MPs.

Among those targeted by the protests is Khattiyah Sawasdiphol, the daughter of late Army specialist Maj-General Khattiya who was killed mysteriously during the red-shirt protests last May. A source said that the objection to her candidature was because her father did not take part in last year's protests right from the beginning like other red-shirt leaders, and also because she was a new Pheu Thai member.

Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said Mingkwan's name was not included in the "upper list" as his documents were not ready. The order of the official list will be announced only after the approval of the EC, he said.

Among well-known red-shirt leaders in the upper party list are Jatuporn Promphan, Natthawut Saikua and Dr Weng Tojirakarn, who led the protests against Abhisit Vejjajiva's government.

Outspoken politician Jatuporn remained under detention as the Criminal Court yesterday rejected a petition for him to leave prison temporarily to attend the EC to submit his name as a candidate. However, the EC allowed the party to do it for him.

Analysts believe Jatuporn will stay in prison until the election.

Jatuporn is not new to electoral politics as he was elected as MP for the Pheu Thai Party in the previous election. Natthawut was deputy spokesman for Samak Sundaravej's administration in 2008.

The election commission will be open for submission of party lists until May 23 and open for applications of constituency candidates on May 24.

Today is the anniversary of the bloody crackdown against the red-shirt protesters, who will once again gather at Ratchaprasong Intersection to commemorate the incident.

Red-shirt leader Kwanchai Praipana said the reds had a quota of 10 in the Pheu Thai Party's list of candidates. Leaders who will be on the list include Kokaew Pikulthong, Wiphuthalaeng Pattanaphumthai, Shinawat Haboonpad and Payap Panket, he said.

Arisman not to run

One of the most watched red leaders, Arisman Pongruangrong, will not run in the contest for unknown reasons, though his wife will take the position, Kwanchai said.

The top 20 candidates in the Pheu Thai Party list, who have the most chance of being elected as MPs, include: Yingluck Shinawatra, Yongyuth Wichaidit, Chalerm Yoo-bamrung, Snoh Thienthong, Pracha Promnok, Plodprasop Suraswadi, Suchart Thadathamrongvej, Chat Kuldilok, Jarupong Ruangsuwan, Apiwan Wiriyachai, Santi Promphat, Wiroon Fuensaeng, Wiroj Pao-in, Weng Tojirakarn, Surapong Towijakchaikul, Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisal, Wattana Muangsuk and Yutthasak Sasiprapha.

Meanwhile the ruling Democrat Party finished its list of candidates yesterday. Within the top 20 are: Prime Minister Abhisit, former prime minister Chuan Leekpai, Banyad Banthadthan, Therdpong Chaiya-nan, Jurin Laksanawisit, Korn Chatikavanij, Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, Apirak Kosayodhin, Trairong Suwankhiri, Chamni Sakdiset, Paithoon Kaewthong, Issara Somchai, Charoen Kantha-wong, Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Akom Engchuan, Niphon Visityuthasart and Suthas Ngern-muen.

Oh well, so much for all of her heart-wrenching vows to continue on his legacy with her emotional declarations to carry on with the Khattiyam Party that he founded and which she is the Party Leader. It's turned out to be just another insincere, hollow, empty promise as she dumps all his supporters with her abandonment. The young, novice politician has rapidly learned to play the game. Also shows she's a good actress. Those tearfully made promises looked very real at the time.

As reported above, it's a smack in the face of loyal and long-time Pheu Thai Party members and also no doubt a causation for the proverbial "turning over in his grave."

If you're undecided which party would have the more competent MPs focused on building rather than destroying the country, just look at these two top twenty's; I don't see a single PAD, trouble maker, loud mouth, ex-actor etc among the Dem's list.

Peua Thai, with their list, have confirmed very clearly that they and the UDD responsible for the burning of Bangkok are one and the same. Furthermore, by placing repulsive characters like Jatuporn as high as 6th (he could have been 60th and still would win his MP immunity), shows that the 'leader' values his 'revolutionary credentials' far more than the politic experience and economic wisdom of Mingwan and others. Clearly the hawks won again in the battle for Peau Thai's direction. Don't be surprised if Mingwan prefers a constituency MP seat so he can switch sides later.

The Party List system practiced in Thailand has its merits to avert some money politics, but this demonstrates the flaw. The thought of Jatuporn and Nattawut getting a shoe-in for our future parliament, and of course immunity from justice, is just sickening. I have a little more respect for Dr Weng, a moderate, but lets hope the people of Bangkok are well aware of who's on this list before they vote Peau Thai in the party list system.

And the others that are in the Top 20 that aren't Red Shirt Leaders are old-time Thaksin Cabinet cronies from his TRT days like the indicted Watana or are corporate lackies from his Shin Corporation days or Police Generals from his despotic regime.

My, what a list of upstanding, competent individuals. Surely they have the qualifications, moral standing and career resume to selflessly push forward the country to a new era of prosperity.

One has to be very, very partisan and brainwashed (or a crook, that also works) to think this people are what's best for the future of Thailand. :bah:
