UPDATE3 -- At least 3 dead after suicide bomber hits large military hospital in Kabul

KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- A suspected suicide bomber on late Saturday morning detonated himself inside one of the largest military hospitals in Afghanistan, witnesses and officials said, killing at least 3 people.

The attack happened just before noon local time inside a tent of the 400-bed Charsad Bestar Hospital in central Kabul. The hospital, which is also known as the Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital, is one of the largest military hospitals in Afghanistan.

A spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defense said at least three people were killed in the blast, while others were reported to have been injured. Tolo News, citing sources, said up to 40 people may have been killed.

Witnesses near the scene said Afghan and international security forces are still searching for a possible second suicide bomber who may still be inside.
