ภูไท

Featured Replies

I've come across a beautiful dialect in northern Thailand, called Puthai or Poothai (something like that). I think it's spelt ภูไท.

It has many different words to central Thai - and indeed to Laos and Isan.

Anyway, I'd like to learn more. Does anyone know where some resources may be?

Many thanks indeed

J

According to that link the majority of the Phu Thai speakers in Thailand are in the Northern provinces of Isaan rather than Northern Thailand eg Kalasin, Nakhonphanom, Mukdahan, Roi Et and Sakhonnakhon. There are also a few speakers in Ubonratchathanee and Udon Thani.
