New Bt 20 coin to commemorate 100th anniversary of National Library

BANGKOK: -- The general public are now invited to change for a new Bt 20 coin in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the National Library.

People are welcome to change for the new coin from October 12 at the Treasury Department's Bureau of Monetary Management and coin distribution units in Bangkok, the Bureau of Royal Thai Mint in Rangsit on the outskirts of the capital and provincial financial offices throughout the country.

One side of the special coin portrays the images of both His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, or King Rama IX the Great, and His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, or King Rama V the Great.

The other side portrays the Vajirayana Library, Bangkok's first public library with the '100th Anniversary of the National Library' script.

The new building of the National Library is now, however, located in the capital's Thavasukri area on Samsen Road.

I wonder if this is going to be a replacement for the 20 baht note, or just another commemorative issue (limited number) like the 20 baht coin (12,000 only released) issued back in April this year commemorating the 50th Birthday Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn... :o
