Rawai Info Needed

If your coming to Rawai for 2 Day vacation in August then the cost of 2 days accommodation shouldn’t really be bothering you in the slightest. Expect to pay anything from 500 Baht + bepending on the type of accommodation your interested in.

There’s plenty of varied food available in Rawai.

What to do? Spend a few days with a beautiful Thai escort, or watch cable TV in your room. Its up to you...

Things to see? Phromthep Cape, Nai Harn Beach, Big Buddha, Zoo, Aquarium.....

Bring a rain coat too!

It's monsoon season...

Every day is monsoon season. We now have the SW monsoon, which brings rain, so, yes, bring your raincoat.

C'mon, it's not that much rain. A short shower. No need for rain coat, I carry a small umbrella. At worst case one of the bike capes or a black garbage bag cut out for head and arms .... ;)

If you're looking for a great view, not to mention a cool breeze.... I have to recommend Nikita's bar on Rawai beach. The food is fine and the only down-side that I have seen is that if you get pissed - the bargirls will inflate your bill dramatically (allegedly) and that if you are female, they pretty much ignore you.

Edit - I would also recommend Coconut Paradise (or something simlar) at the other end of Rawai beach. The food is better (if you're into farang food) and the bargirls more friendly, even if you're female so they have little to gain other than a tip. The view is not as good as Nikita's, but is still OK.

Gonna be takin one with me,one i met last year, shes a good sort we shall see.........if no good will part exchange;)

Thus the suggestion of wearing a "raincoat" ;)

Look into Green Valley Resort, should be 500thb a night, has a pool, aircon, wifi.

Across the street, noodle soups, to the other side breakfast buffet at Chao Khun, up the street, all nite venue The Icon Pub. Opposite direction, left if you head out of Green Valley is JayFai Thai Food and Kallots for a fresh baguette sandwich, Rum Jungle, Tony, the chef there is unbelievable, a little bit pricey but well worth it as the quality is outstanding.

Toward Nai Harn beach, best club sandwich on the island at The Breakfast Hut, some of the best Italian food around at M&M's, if you get a hankering for Mexican, Los Amigos.

Cut through road to Rawai Beach a left before you get to Nai Harn Lagoon, is where a poster mentions Roxanne Bar, go all the way through to Rawai Beach and eat Thai food & BBQ on mats in the sand, can continue to the other end to Nikitas, further on, entertainment complex Laguna Bars which also holds an all nite disco.

And so, after just one post, you have deduced the OP to be a dyed in the wool expat with a hankering for prostitutes, bad food and a 'living on the edge type' being prepared to be hit over the head/knocked off a motorbike after a glorious night's fun at the notorious Icon.

First, may I advise you and Katasyd to get a drink together as you seem the same lot.

As for the points of your post: "deduced the OP to be a dyed in the wool expat with a hankering for prostitutes" absolutely not, was making a pun of raincoat, and the OP actually mentions he already has a GF here.

"bad food " whaat? All the places I mentioned have good food, have you been to any of them Evanson?

"'living on the edge type' being prepared to be hit over the head/knocked off a motorbike after a glorious night's fun at the notorious Icon." the place I mentioned he should stay at is walking distance to Icon, and really now you are just being dramatic with words like "glorious" and "notorious".

On the right coming from Icon if headed toward Nai Harn Beach, on the corner opposite The Freebird Bar & Restaurant.

Maybe the one you are thinking of is Typhoon? With all the wood decking and furniture, I understand they too have a breakfast buffet, but have heard it's hit and miss.

F1Fanatic consider yourself added to the list. Anyone that sits and watches a race where the pole sitter goes round and round for hours to victory (mind numbing) is also probably after hi-so ladies in Kata (which is a complete laugher). Good nite to all and to all a good nite !!

Never did i use the word "Hi So".

It was educated.

Sorry for not wanting to date a non English speaking bargirl and sit in a restaurant over a meal with nothing to talk about.rolleyes.gif

You take everything i post to heart because it must hit home with you the hardest.

Did i strike a nerve? Are you the guy sitting out front of the mom & pop shops sipping your 35 baht beer down there on the concrete stools?

Rawai is a tip, yes it has good restaurants but i would not recommend anyone to stay there for a holiday.
