Krabi Visa Extension

Featured Replies

I have had a read through a lot of threads which don't seem to answer the question I have exactly so I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Long story as short as I can make it:

I will be traveling to Thailand for a 90 day holiday and am considering getting a double entry 60 tourist visa.

I will be in Koh Lanta for the duration and was hoping to get get this visa extended by 30 days at the Krabi immigration office.

However, I'm not sure if the office will extend it for the full 30 days. Has anyone any recent experience of this process in Krabi?

If I can't get the extension I would need to do a border run to Malaysia near the end of the 60 days (not ideal) to get the double entry visa stamped. Could anyone let me know if this will extend the visa by another 30/60 days?

The border run is not neccessarily the ideal option as it is a long trek from Koh Lanta to Hat Yai but if the double entry works to extend the visa by the extra 30 days or so it would be a good back up to have.

The other (and final) question is whether the Krabi immigration office would extend the visa (up to) 30 days from the date the original visa expiries or from the date I arrive in the office to get the extension processed?

Thanks for sticking with this post if you have patiently got to this sentence :) Any advice on how to achieve what I am attempting to do (stay in Thailand for 90 days and avoid a visa run) would be hugely appreciated.

A tourist visa is routinely extended for 30 days from date of expiration of current permitted to stay stamp (go early as you lose nothing). Remember day of arrival and departure count in totals.
