A suppler in BKK is quoting me what seems like an outrageous price to ship a single item to CM by train - it would be cheaper to go down and pick it up if I had the time. Surely there must be a daily road delivery service other than the Big Names (Fedex, UPS et al).

DD Transport or 99 Logistics are quite good, 99 mainly send stuff south so they have a lot of empty trucks coming back to CNX, so some good deals can be had.
