Sounds interesting. But not interesting enough to drive all the way to CM four times. Would make more sense for the teacher to come to the students instead of the students driving for two hours to see the teacher.

I think it's บาloney if you think anyone can learn Thai so easily.

Many here , especially those from Oz have problems with English , maybe we should start an English school for bushmen :D

How fast do you drive? It takes me at least 2 1/2 hour

My brakes stopped working on my car about a year ago. The wife, being thrifty, observed that a new, loud horn was cheaper to buy than new brakes. Since then, my fuel mileage has increased measurably and my driving times are substantially reduced. If you want, you can borrow my car next time you take a trip and see how things work out for you. Bring your motorcycle helmet with face shield, though. We figured out if we remove the front glass, it reduces the drag quite a bit. We took the doors off years ago because it was taking too long to get in and out of the car, so now we save money and gain some power by not needing to run the A/C. We did install a steel insect screen where the back window used to be. That has worked out well. We usually have enough bugs to make a meal by the time we get where we're going so, we save time and money by skipping the cafes. The whole thing has worked out well and may work out even better in the future. The wife is thinking about selling new underwear to the scooter drivers that we encounter sometimes. You should go for a ride with us one day. It's a lot of fun. But for all the improvements we have made to the car, we still can't keep up with the harsu clan. I'm pretty sure they have the engine from a ten wheel truck in that little pickup of theirs. Have you ever tried to follow them anywhere? I think they do the CM thing in about an hour and forty five and that INCLUDES a pie stop.

Oh I wondered already who it was that passed my car with highspeed. We meet again at every traffic light though. He uses more oil than gasoline..

good chuckle, Kandahar, but whoops, off topic...

I think I need a course in how to be patient with slow drivers

(and I think slow is a double entendre there)

I am the very first to admit that my linguistic skills are mediocre. Having spent considerably more than 8 hours learning the Thai script and -only now - starting to feel more confident about how to read it, identify pseudo clusters etc, never mind hear a word read out by my teacher and correctly write it down, I feel slightly miffed. Can anyone really learn to read and write it in eight hours (plus homework, presumably.)?? Must be a very good teaching system?

I can see how this system and the speedthai or whatever it's called could work, and would help people who already have a decent Thai spoken vocabulary but being able to read the words aloud isn't a lot of help if you don't already know what these words mean. :)

I agree. "What does that say?' asks my family. It says '........'. ( family look very impressed with me). Next question, "What does it mean?' .. and I haven't a clue. My vocab. knowledge trails far behind, especially with the type of language used in formal notices. Still, any progress is progress.

This system is a dream. I mean you would dream to learn this quick. Far too expensive also! There are better ways like Paiboon Becker.
