Door still open for reds in Cabinet

By THE NATION

Prime minister-elect Yingluck Shinawatra reaffirmed yesterday she would pick her ministers based on their track records and professional qualifications.

The door to becoming ministers had not been shut on red-shirt leaders who were elected on Pheu Thai's party list, she added.

"The opportunity will be granted to everybody who has the ability, whether insiders or outsiders of our party," she said.

Yingluck was reacting to remarks by Pheu Thai's Snoh Thienthong, who said he opposed the allocation of Cabinet seats to red shirts.

Outgoing Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva warned the PM-to-be against creating conflict through her Cabinet appointments.

However, it was Pheu Thai and Yingluck's right to appoint any of the red shirts as ministers, he said.

In related news, the Pheu Thai-led coalition has raised its quota of seats in Parliament from 299 to 300 after the New Democracy Party pledged its one vote, becoming the sixth partner in the alliance.

Pheu Thai leader Yongyuth Wichaidit said yesterday that New Democracy Party leader Surathin Pijarn had agreed to join the coalition, giving credit for brokering the deal to MP-elect Vicharn Minchainant.

Every minister will be appointed based on his/her level of incompetence. Olarn for finance/treasury, Chalerm for justice, Chuwit for corruption.......

What a pity the Marx brothers (Groucho, Harpo, Beppo and Karl) aren't still around, they would have had a ball with this lot!

Does that mean that there will be a ministry of " burn down buildings" or " Terrorism" or something similar?

Ministry of Propaganda? or should that be Ministry of Truth (as depicted by Orwell)? Oh wait, aren't we going to have a Ministry of Truth (and Reconciliation)? Is she that well read?

Can someone please tell Red-shirt leader Korkaew who seems to have just said if red-shirts don't get appointed as minister, conflict with Pheu Thai may ensue.

He knows the door is still open. He's just reminding the people (person) that makes the decisions.

I can see already this is going to be fun government.......Take the same lunatics that wanted to burn down Bangkok, and put them into important government positions? I have a sense that the posters here on TV are going to have a field day in the future. :jap:

Yeah i thought it would have great comedy value to have the guy that was telling everyone to bring 1 million liters of petrol to burn bangkok as the energy minister or in charge of state security. That would be great for a laugh or a thousand.

I wonder who gets the ministry of armed sedition role, or indeed one of the ministry of health what with the storming of a hospital by red thugs. :whistling:

Using "track records and professional qualifications" as criteria for selection, is a step in the right direction. I see the big hurdle being, to find someone qualified to recognize those qualities in a individual, without seeing that individual as a threat to her/his own private agenda.

This government may have the shortest so called 'honeymoon period' in recent memory.

What about the Ministry of Throwing Infected Blood On Everything?

I understand your irony.

My posting is a little bit more serious.

Chavalit (Master of Currency, Rice stock etc. cheating) already works at a significant level. The Baht goes up the last 3 days. International Ranking companies gave an alert for investments in Thailand. Before the financial crisis in Thailand is clear for everyone (3 months), for farang investors too, the Chavalit group will sell the foreign currencies.

The Baht will go down.

They don't scare. They have job for Tom Yam Gung in Montenegro or Gaeng Massaman (no pork food) in Dubai.

It seems that an incoming Pheu Thai MP for Nakhon Phatom (one of the NE MPs) has said today that core members of the UDD deserve a cabinet post for helping PT to win the election. The red-shirt leaders' hard work contributed considerably to the party's landslide victory and with cabinet posts they'd be enabled to administer the country in peace and harmony ...
