midas
Would anyone know the correct way to address the Head Monk at the temple ? For example you address a bishop as "Your excellency" or "Bishop". Is there something equivalent in the Thai Buddhist religion for the head Monk?. Is there also a formal title for the head Monk-is it correct that he is known as Abbot? sabaijai
the formal title for the abbot of a Thai Buddhist monastery or wat is jao aawaat. Written in Thai: เจ้าอาวาส The best all-around term of address is than jao aowaat ท่านเจ้าอาวาส
