Access To My House Has Been Cut

I live at the end of a dead end soi (one way in and out).

The city finally decided to put water drainage in the soi and

I assume to also refinish it (it has been a dirt street so far).

It's a real city soi, with it's own soi number. The soi is

about 400 meters long. They have started the work 3 weeks

ago, promising me I would be cut of only for 30 days. For the

last two weeks all the work has stopped, their JBC/Makko is

sitting idle in the middle of the soi blocking all access. For

the last two weeks it has been almost impossible to even

move a motorbike though ... It's a very narrow soi.

Unfortunately I am the only house at the end of the soi. Other

residents are closer to the beginning of the soi and are not

affected yet.

Bu accident, I noticed some of my mail lying on the street at

the entrance to the soi - I guess the mail man didn't feel like

walking the last 100 meters to deliver my mail. Garbage is

starting to pile up as well.

As much as I appreciate them redoing the soi, I need to be able

to get in and out (I have a car). If it really would have "only"

taken 30 days, I would have sweated it out ... but 3 weeks in to

the project, they are about 15% in to it.

What can I do ? Any ideas suggestions ?

Attached is a pic.

Thanks,

rudi

PS: I am looking for constructive suggestions. I am aware I

can go and stay at a hotel and such ...

Take as many pictures as possible, take your rental contract/house-papers stating that you actually live there and head for city-hall and file a complaint.

It would be good if you could find a very old Thai lady in a wheelchair. Take a few pictures of her too in front of your house.......this will do. (The old lady may end up at Fr. Ray's and you may end up in a hotel. annoyed.gif )

Anyway, complaining on TV won't bring you any further, complaining at City Hall might.

What else is there to do...other than to seek temporary accommodations or grin and bear it? Just hope it doesn't take 4 years ala Jomtien 2nd Road  Maybe invest in a pair of waders.

over 7 years ,making jomtiem road :D

I own the house so there is no rent ...

We have been in touch with city hall. I also have two school age

kids that need to go to school. They are on summer break at the

moment, so that's not a problem for another 6 weeks.

City hall told us that the subcontractor must allow us to get in

and out. But that's really not practical. They said they will talk

to the sub contractor as well and see whats going on.

I am trying to be careful with complaining to much, don't want

this to become a 4 year project.

If it's not finished by the time the kids have to go to school, I

will contact local media ...

Overall it seems to be a purely planned job (as every other

one run by thais I guess). Giving this contract to a company

that owns only a single JBC/Makko is a joke.

Thanks,

rudi
