Remitting Payment To Thailand, While In Thailand?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am going to be buying a condo off plan in Thailand, that I have to make payments to until 2013 but am going to be living in Thailand until then, as a renter. What would be the easiest way to remit payment? Do I have to physically be in my home country to remit payment or could I, say, go to a Citibank/Bank of America branch in Bangkok and remit money from my American bank account that way? Thanks.

There's this new thing called the World Wide Web that you can use to access your bank account from anywhere in the world and transfer money around the world.

I was under the impression that it was a bit difficult to transfer $300,000 to a foreign country over the internet. And of course, my bank doesn't allow that.

They allow wire transfers by phone, but to be honest, I don't exactly trust some banker to get such a very specific wire transfer correct over the phone. Most of the time, they don't get it right the first time when I give them instructions in person.

Any other ideas?

Write a letter, obviously.
