maechanman
I am currently on my 1st retirement visa which doesn't expire until May 17th 2012.

I'm planning on returning to the UK at the end of March 2012 returning here around mid May 2012 (14th/15th).

My question is would it be possible to renew my retirement visa before I travel say around the last week in March as I would not have much time to do it if I return only 2 or 3 days before the expiry date?

Also if I travel back from a UK airport with only 2 or 3 days remaining on my retirement visa would I encounter any problems at check in with this amount of time if I didn't have a return ticket? I usually buy my return tickets here in Thailand.

Thanks
lopburi3
If you have tickets showing travel they will often allow extension of stay early. As for the re-entry permit you must convince airline it is the same as having a visa (some don't have a clue) but it should be fine once that is determined.
