I Bought A Chevy Cruze

Recommended Posts

Thaicruze, if it is for that, I also see plenty of Pajero Sport around... But only in BKK. laugh.png Which is to say the feeble reliability of this finding (could not even distinguish between the year of production just by the sight of it).

And I hardly see any Cruze around. So, I have some reservations on "selling like hotcakes".

Regarding the "loss in power", can you explain better what you mean? How do you observe that? Re. fuel economy, do you drive in the same manner? Have you been more frantic on the pedal since you bought it?

Well in some sense the fuel mileage may decrease if the compression drops as it does in older engines and as well the hp drops too.. It is veeery hard for the layman and even the professional to tell without serious equipment to test though, especially if the car is a daily driver and nothing to compare directly with..

Simply installing spring washers under the engine mounts will raise the compression and then he will have both power and economy back.

Eh? huh.png Are you taking the piss? how does installing spring washers (?) under the engine mounts raise compression and economy? As an engine gets older it develops blow by of the rings and valve seals all internal issues not external..

Obviously a term we don't use in the states, like many things guess it depends on your age and origins I'm also not nearly as old as most of you geezers it seems giggle.gif .. Nice SU's but a bitch to synchronize though, hope you have someone good enough who knows how to do it correctly...If that were my engine I'd definitely bring that breather up above engine height too and not have it laying on it's side like that, I always wonder how someone can give so much detail to such a build and not see things like that and that extra, simple step in the finish up..

Me of course. laugh.png

I thought you were an American V8 nut, we don't use those puppies on American cars and most of the British cars who had them aren't alive anymore as they either fell apart from rust or burned up from electrical problems only the Japanese who stole the concept are still around and running strong.. above engine height... yeah right. Americans would cut a hole in the hood to do that and then

add a huge airfilter which blocks the view to the right.

whatever... i'm a proud peasant. the last car i bought is now 43 years old and i have no intention selling it during my remaining statistical life span rolleyes.gif

43 years old? You sound like an enthusiast! I spent 6000 dollars on an old mini over 10 years and sold it for 400 before I can to Thailand....stupid I know, but that's what we do.

the car is indeed 43 years old and i spent around 150,000 Dollars (US not Zimbabwe!) rolleyes.gif some old cars in Thailand are quite expensive ermm.gif

bad job! breather not above engine height. Weber wrongly spelled with "double b". engine not 24karat gold plated thumbsup.gif

Think Warpy failed to notice the engine was being worked on, parts have been removed etc. rolleyes.gif

One way of bringing this thread to an end, ask for people of a similar ilk. By the way see a reasonable amount of Chevy badges on my trips up NE, Cruze or not, I can only vouch for not a pickup.....

PS. Naam , had you picked for a Beemer or Merc, still a classic ride though.

Cheers

No need to do any of that but definitely needs to be installed above the engine if first of all oil gets in the breather line on heavy throttling and sometimes blocks the breather preventing air from escaping or it saturates the breather preventing it from breathing properly causing pressure build up in the lower end it most definitely should be higher and standing straight up to allow air to flow freely and burp when necessary.. Why do you think most properly installed breathers are on the valve cover??

Agreed it is crap if one can't think of the potential problems before hand..

Thanks for covering me but no I didn't, they are obviously to the point of finality and based on the hose length and being tied to the frame have stupidly opted to leave it at that height. Again I don't expect the amateurs like Naam here to understand after all he's just a nuclear scientist or summit and pool specialist doesn't mean he knows dank about properly building cars.. I'd also hate to be driving that when it does blow oil out the breather as I've seen countless times and since it doesn't go into a breather can it ends up all over the rear wheels but hey! Some people like unexpected and uncontrollable spinning so have it..

My mistake on the electrical fires though, most electrical systems fail so badly they can't create enough current to catch on fire..

And BTW, Chevy Cruze Thailand is built by GM Thailand not Daewoo or Holden. Just for all of you calling it a daewoo. The Cruze is built at a plant in Rayong, just like Ford Focus. Probably next door to each other.

This is a picture of the Cruze being built in Rayong

0.jpg

Same goes for the Captiva, the Colorado, now the Sonic as well

captiva-drive-off-line.jpg

Crap noisy brake pads? Yes

Cheap Maxxis tires? Sure

Shit Daewoo? No.

The first 2 can be fixed at the local B-Quick.

Recall for just over 400,000 Cruze's for oils collecting in a pan in the below the engine that could cause a fire. Did the recall include the Cruze built by GM Thailand? NOPE. Did it include Cruzes built in Ohio? YEP!

I may have a bit of brake noise but at least my trusty Thai Cruze isn't catching on fire.

It isn't accelerating by itself like a Prius or having the Driveshaft recalled like the 2012 overpriced Civic.

After I get some decent brake pads on there this weekend I'll look into 18 inchers

Just like that one and all you bitches are going to be pissing in your pants.
