just checked tv the form she needs to apply for is a general visitors visa is v a f 1a.is this correct?

To enter the UK ?

UK Visas are valid for 6 months.

She applies using form VAF1A.

She must apply online.

It will be valid for 6 months.

She cannot apply in Dublin as she is not resident in the RoI and must apply in Bangkok as she is resident in Thailand.

See How to apply.

That is 100% correct - My Mrs had to do the same when she came to Ireland and then we travelled to Scotland. Thats going back a while though.
