Lat time I was down that way on the 108 past San Patong by about 15 kilometres there was construction going on for an extension of the 106 which I believe included a new bridge which I think was over the Ping and then on to Lamphun.

Anyone know if it is open yet? Or when it opens?

There's paving going on at the intersection south of San Pa Tong but everything else is complete. I say that but the bridge over the Ping is still blocked with concrete barriers. No doubt someone wasn't paid for their efforts yet. If you have a motorcycle you can slip between the barriers but a cager won't make it.

About the same 2 months ago. Was going to Pa Sang got to the bridge and the barriers tried alternative routes and got lost for some time! :(

'Cager', Sojourner? A whattas datta?

Soundsa like a da jaila that locks you up in the slamma.

Thought I was going to get more info! :)

But I will provide some:

"cager

a popular word among motorcyclists and bicyclists for four wheeled motor vehicle drivers. The term is often used in a derogative sense, because the car body effectively forms a cage, isolating the said driver from having to interact with other road users.

The term was coined by motorcyclists."

Should anybody be interested the bridge was opened some 3 months ago and makes a good x country route from the 108 south of San Patong to Lamphun.

The bad news is that when I went down there earlier this week most of the road for some distance either side of the bridge is already under repair,in fact a big mess.Does not bode well for the safety of the bridge which is over the Ping.

The "new" construction lasted less time than Swampy runways!

Too true! The junction with 108 has been dug up, relayed over and over again, and it still looks a mess.
