The Gentleman Scamp
6 Months Jail For A Fake Rolex Wearer Wearer? A MAN has been jailed for six months for buying a fake Rolex.Buying?Representatives for the exclusive watchmaker in Belgium had spotted him wearing the counterfeit and tipped off the authorities. How on earth did they spot a fake Rolex without being close enough to examine it or was he also seen buying it? Was he arrested for buying or wearing one? A judge in Dendermonde, Belgium, ruled the man, named only as Gunther R, 33, had knowingly bought the fake and also fined him £700 fine for breaching brand name registration laws Weather this happened in Belgium or Bangers, it isn't really fair is it, taking it out on Gunther just because they can't nab the fakers in Thailand. Patsycat
They had a whole thing in Switzerland a few years ago when they destroyed thousands of fake rolex. I bought one once and it really looked fake, just for the laugh. My sister now has it, but it is so ugly i don't think she will even wear it. lamphun
Has to be BS, or are the laws really that absurd in Belgium? http://www.replicacenter.com/replica_frame.htm (click on legal considerations) Has some pretty good info about the risks of counterfeit watches. According to them buyer has almost 0 risk, but then again this story supposedly took place in Belgium not the US...
Kringle
I forgot to look at the OP, no wonder it's unbelieveable, does half a$$ research on a subject and usually all about women and their virtues or lack there of. The story sounds like BS in any country, even Belgium. Do a quick LOGIC thought here and think if the guy said this: Dammm I didn't know it was a copy, I got ripped off. Too many holes in this story. stumonster
I wonder if gunther was silly enough to take his rolex in to be fixed at a rolex dealer in belguim? But still - pretty watches to me equate to bangles or bracelets....
bluebear
You have to remember that this is the Daily Record. Actually thinking about it, The Beano might be upset at that statement. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/news/tm_...-name_page.html
bluebear
Heres the story on ananova. Man jailed for fake Rolex watch A Belgian man has been jailed for six months for wearing a fake Rolex . A court in Dendermonde heard that the man, named only as Gunther R, 33, had been spotted by representatives of Rolex wearing the fake watch and they complained to authorities. The judge ruled the man had knowingly bought the fake and sentenced him to six months in prison under laws for handling counterfeit goods. He was also ordered to pay a £700 fine for breaching brand name registration laws. http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1587840.html Sounds more like he was trying to pass it off as genuine and selling it.
