Hi,

37-year-old American here. Girlfriend has Tourist Visa interivew coming up. She lives with and cares for her elderly parents. We're going to draw up some documents for her family members to sign stating as much, and also that while she is in America her sister will temporarily assume those duties. The idea is to help prove her "ties to Thailand".

My question is: when does an affidavit become an affidavit? If we sit down with her family, write up some documents (in English) stating she takes care of her parents, and they sign them, what else do we need? The right letterhead? A notary? A witness? A lawyer? A seal from the local ampur? Jon Bon Jovi's thumb print in Malcolm Jamal Warner's blood?

Already have letter from Health Clinic stating parents' medical conditions, but want to back it up with "affidavits" from the family.

I'm looking for specifically what the US Embassy/Thailand standard is in addition to signatures for making something an "affidavit".

Any thoughts appreciated!

-Scott
