August 26, 201114 yr English. Strong. Sweet. A little milk, best drunk when scalding hot. The worst thing about tea is forgetting you had a cup and not realising until it is too late. Discuss Almost forgot. Another great thing about tea is the way it can cut through the feathery, tarry, furry sensation on your tongue during a mean hangover. August 26, 201114 yr I agree about it being strong....little less sweet for me. I loath that Earl Grey stuff....an olfactory disaster that is. Just supply me with a packet of ginger nuts as well and I'm a happy man!
August 26, 201114 yr Author Earl Grey is pointless to me, so bland. Of course by 'English' tea, I mean 'English Breakfast' tea. The proper stuff.
August 26, 201114 yr Typhoo or PG Tips. Reasonably strong, no milk, no sugar. If you take the bag out of the pot then it will go cold without stewing and can be drunk with ice Accompany with dark-chocolate HobNobs http://www.mcvities.co.uk/product/hobnobs "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
August 26, 201114 yr Stewed tea is an aquired taste. Unfortunately I had a friend's mother force feed me it for one whole summer.....Irish she was and probably the basis for the Father Ted character. I admit to having the odd craving now and then though.
August 26, 201114 yr A bit of cream with the milk. Not whipped. Leaf in a pot, not bag in the cup Fresh cold water in a kettle that is allowed to just about boil, but not quite. Ceylon Orange Pekoe. I'm not snob enough to insist on torn leaf. Actually, I'm not snob enough to insist on any of the above.....except maybe the don't boil to hell preference......but I really enjoy a cuppa with all of the above .
August 26, 201114 yr PG Tips, Dash of full fat milk and 1 1/2 sugars............. i also like green tea
August 27, 201114 yr Here in VN we get the big ceramic mugs with lid and strainer for Chinese tea. Also works with black tea, one large, individual mug. But I prefer coffee - perked or espresso best, but I'll accept the Cona method as well.
August 27, 201114 yr Same as Crossy - for me, tea served black, reaasonably strong, no sugar (for any type).
August 27, 201114 yr Hot Tea - the English stuff; strong with a teaspoon of sugar. Cold Tea - The Japanese stuff, on ice.
August 27, 201114 yr My tea drinking mug is 2 & half times bigger than a regular one, PG tip, skimmed milk, not too dark but not milky either. No sugar, yuk. I drink about 4 of those a day. Me loves the tea
August 27, 201114 yr Of course, a Long Island Iced Tea (or three) goes down well on a summer afternoon. Pizzeria Uno (now no longer) in Auckland used to make the best. Something about them made them seem non-alcoholic, and as a result, they would go down sooooooo easily, and then another, and another.....and then you fall over if you try to stand up. No wonder!: 1 nip (30 ml) vodka 1 nip (30 ml) gin 1 nip (30 ml) rum 1 nip (30 ml) triple sec liqueur 1 nip (30 ml) tequila 2 teaspoons orange juice 2 nips (60ml) cola-flavored carbonated beverage 1 wedge lemon Edited August 27, 201114 yr by Harcourt
August 28, 201114 yr My tea drinking mug is 2 & half times bigger than a regular one, PG tip, skimmed milk, not too dark but not milky either. No sugar, yuk. I drink about 4 of those a day. Me loves the tea Only time I drank tea regularly was when I visited Boo in the UK. Somehow tasted better there. And it helped immensely with the hangovers.
August 29, 201114 yr Majestic Suites hotel in Bangkok make a lethal Long Island Ice Tea. For a proper cuppa, I like strong tea, milk and one sugar. Two TEASPOONS of orange juice? Well we wouldn't want to overdose on Vitamin C would we?!!! Edited August 29, 201114 yr by Patsycat
August 29, 201114 yr Quite alot of preference for English tea here. Where's the tea-growing region of England? Devonshire?
August 29, 201114 yr English tea is great as is but I love it served up in Southern India...extra strong and sweet and super milky after a plate of masala dosa.....the tea hits your throat and you get a warm kick that tickles you from head to toe....
August 30, 201114 yr Yeeeeaaaauuuuuugggggghhhhhhh! If I drink tea it is either as-it-comes or with a touch of lemon or lime. I want something clean and sharp to clean my mouth, not sweet and fatty.
September 15, 201114 yr For blended "brand " tea, this is one of the best. Yorkshire Tea Can hardly ever find it in Thailand though! Good Assam and Darjeeling teas hard to beat. Love them both. Like my green tea too! Like my homemade Masala Chai too!! Always liked Lapsong Souchang (ever since I was small, when I thought it was a close relation of the Lhasa Apso!!!!) Types of Tea
September 16, 201114 yr I take mine with lemon, thank you... the same as I do with water. I"ve been a tea granny since I was a kid and never drank coffee until I was an adult. I still prefer tea.
September 16, 201114 yr genmai cha...japanese green tea with toasted rice: addictive when you can find it... in the UK I useta get comments for my traditional tea making abilities as in: 'mmm,,,this is a good cup of tea...' not bad fer a stinkin' yank...
