Backyardburt
I hope someone can recommend a good vet for dogs, does not have to be in Pattaya area. Subject is an American Golden Lab and he's got a horrible skin allergy. We've given him all the shots for the mange you see on local dogs. Have also tryed some pills that seem to work but he gets very lazy and gains weight. Back home this poor guy would've seen a treatment with lead if you know what I mean, however this is the land of smiles, and towards animals - let them suffer and die, hencforth that is not the solution. Beside that a radical treatment would definetly befriend my wife, who is attached to all our 3 dogs. The currect clinic we use on Sukomvit is suggesting a batch of pills at 3,000 bht/day, definetly out of the question. Right now he's get a bath every 2 days and baby oil treatments as his shin is so dry, it does help - but not 100%.
Jebhead
Go to Na Jomtien Animal hospital, they have a skin specialist in there on certain days, if you go along they will give you more info. It is on Suk Rd, if you come up Theppasit turn right where it meets Suk rd, go along there about 1km then do a U turn and it's right there on your left. JH I used Jomtiem Animal hospital for my dogs skin complaint and I was not impressed one iota ... they prescribed antibiotic which are resistant to drugs for several years ...so a total waste of time and money...I ended up doing a lot of research on the internet and self prescribed medication which I bought from my local pharmacy at a fraction of the cost ( and it worked ).... Message me with your dogs symptoms and if it is Pyoderma or a bacterial infection I can recommend some effective antibiotic and other complimentary medication. snowgard
Try "SIAM COUNTRY ROAD PET HOSPITAL"!!! I go there with my 4 German Shepherd Dogs and they check your dog well. Very well I don't want give because it's not same as I know it from germany. But they check good, speak good english and explain you all. It's the best vet I visited with my dogs in Pattaya. Before I tried 5 different other and don't gone there anymore. You can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/3vzvpsb Just zoom out to see the location better. Jebhead
Not all dogs will have the same results with the same medication, several medications may need to be tried until you find the one best suited to specific animal. "Message me with you symptoms" - get a grip! you know exactly what medication that animal requires by PM? Vets spend many years training and you do a little bit of research and become an instant expert? ....... that's hilarious! thaibear1
My dog had an eczema and no doctor found a good treatment. So I made my own experiment which help also on human skin etc.! In many pharmacy you can get "Propolis tinctura", a deep dark brown liquid. I made a water-propolis solution and applayed each second day as an shampoo and after 3 weeks my Labrador was eczema free. ATTENTION: Propolis tinctura is a ugly brown liquid wear gloves and apply outside home because certain your dog will shake ! Watch little bit the skin first days, seldom but rarely some human (I think animal too) can have an allergie on Bee Products. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propolis
Cuban
Is the skin complaint due to using too aggressive cleaning liquids on your floors? Are you sure shampooing the dog so frequently is doing any good at all? I understand that you are better placed to see the condition but dogs do not need shampooing more that 3 or 4 times a year, but we brush our dogs 3-4 times a week. Most vets will happily sell you Furmeg-3 capsules, they contain fish oils. You would do better feeding your dog fresh raw mackerel, cut the spines and gill covers off (do not cook it), dogs can eat the fish complete as is. After a few months the improvement in skin and fur is amazing. There is a related thread running in the Vet & Pets forum. Sort of the cause of infection, feed raw mackerel (often discounted in Tesco) and you will see improvement. 00:00-24:00 From the Sukhumvit drive East along Soi Nuern Plub Warn, turn right when you see the big advertising wok like thing. dandare11
Hi, re read your original script again, just wondered how you think it is an allergy? Just treated a dog with hardened skin on the rear end of its back, skin slightly ridged and cracking ,oozing blood. Dosed it on Cephalexine 2x 250 gram tablets a day, after 5 days the skin ,was softening, the oozing had stopped, dog looked healthier too 60 Baht a strip from pharmacy, worth a try before a vets bill.
