KUALA LUMPUR (BNO NEWS) -- A cameraman working for the Malaysian national news agency Bernama was killed in a shooting on late Friday afternoon while working in Somalia, the news agency confirmed on Saturday.

The shooting happened at around 5.30 p.m. local time when Noramfaizul Mohd Nor, 40, was in a truck which was heading to the commercial center of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. Noramfaizul was traveling along with other journalists and was being accompanied by an army truck.

The 40-year-old journalist was seated next to the door of the truck when suspected rebels opened fire at the army truck. One of the bullets hit his vehicle and pierced through Noramfaizul's lungs. He died about 30 minutes later while receiving medical attention.

Noramfaizul was in Somalia with the aid agency Putera 1Malaysia Club for the Humanitarian aid mission, the news agency said on its website. The mission to Somalia arrived in Mogadishu on August 28 and is expected to return on September 8.
