Accident Motorbike Rider Dozes Off, Passenger Falls from Bangkok Flyover

Police are preparing to charge a motorcycle taxi rider with reckless driving after he allegedly fell asleep at the handlebars, causing his passenger, a Myanmar woman, to plunge from an elevated section of road at theRatchayothin Junction. The incident, which occurred on the morning of 24 August, was captured in a video clip shared widely on TikTok, sparking public outrage over rider safety. According to witnesses, the motorbike, operated by Thanaphat Munni, struck the barrier of the Ratchayothin overpass at around 07:00. The collision caused his passenger, identified as Ms Lwin Lwin Aye, 28, from Myanmar, to be thrown off the bridge. She hit the windscreen of a passing car before crashing onto the road below, suffering severe injuries. Thanaphat, who admitted to being a Grab rider, told police he had dozed off momentarily while transporting his passenger. He escaped with only minor injuries. Local motorcycle taxi driver “Kai”, who rushed to assist at the scene, urged fellow riders to ensure they are well-rested before carrying passengers. “Drivers must always put passenger safety first,” he said. Pol Lt Col Somporn Uppapong, deputy traffic chief at Phahonyothin Police Station, confirmed that Thanaphat will be charged with reckless driving causing serious injury. Emergency crews transported Ms Lwin Lwin Aye to Paolo Kaset Hospital, where she remains under treatment. Police said further legal proceedings will follow once the investigation is complete. Deputy Provincial Governor Wanpen Mungsri announced plans to permit alcohol on Visakha Bucha, Asarnha Bucha, Makha Bucha, Buddhist Lent, and the end of Buddhist Lent days. Sales would be allowed from Cha-am beach to the areas west of Phetkasem Road, offering limited coverage within the municipality. Wanpen emphasised the need for a public forum to gather local opinions from businesses and residents. The initiative targets economic benefits and increased tourism, amid eased governmental restrictions on alcohol in certain areas since May. Authorities have retained control to prevent disturbances and ensure minors are not affected, highlighting a balanced approach between tradition and tourism. Honestly, I have no idea how much a doctor's visit and treatment would cost. A consultation with a doctor 1,000 baht, perhaps? Perhaps they will take a sample and analyse it? Another 1,000 baht for lab work? Or perhaps they will just go straight to an intra-muscular injection of antibiotics. I honestly don't know how much it would cost but if money is tight, I understand Pattaya City Hospital or Pattaya Memorial Hospital are cheaper than Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. I hope this helps. Repetition can be deadly. This is just another reason why factory workers are so much at risk. But, does APPLE care? Or, what about your jeans? REPETITION can be deadly. I feel for the operators making your jeans, especially if they are.... JORDACHE jeans....or Kalvin Klein, heaven forbid..... Some days, I feel just so BLUE..... And, why would I not.... Having watched the factory operators in China.... Making your jeans, but not mine. I have owned only ONE pair of Kelvin Klein jeans, in my life.... And those were the ones I dug out of a dumpster. KELVIN Kline? ABSOLUTE ZERO, in my mind..... So, what do tariffs matter to me, since I care more about people than economics?..... And since, I go dumpster diving for most of the material things I require, even old computer chips and motherboards... Which I cobble together, when I need a new computer, instead of buying the latest Apple....? And, you have already watched China Blue, but do not care, which says a LOT..... And so... I do not care about your tariffs..... We will shut down both exports and imports... And live off our wits, and also what we can grow and produce locally. This is pretty much the way it was 200 years ago, and that was a far better time. Who needs the Flat World, anyway???
