Google Maps

Featured Replies

Not taken long to get started....saw the Google Maps car driving around the moat today....will make it easy to identify what places we are talking about in future eg. restaurants, bars etc etc.

I saw 'em, too, on Monday. Actually three cars, with cameras mounted at different angles on the roof of the cars. They don't keep it a secret, do they? Big google "street view" logos on the cars and, of course, you don't see cameras like those everyday. I was in a song thaew with two young Korean tourists. They took pictures like mad and all three of us waved and mugged for the cameras as the cars went past.

I expect that part won't make it to the internet!

It does take several months to process the Google street view data, and years for a proper street maps to be generated from the extra data obtained from the high tech street view cameras.

We've had http://www.mapjack.com/ for a few years now for said purpose.

Before my first visit i have used mapjack.

They have expanded now, maybe to compete with Google.

Bring it on it will be good to get a more update on Chiang Mai and Bangkok. :)
