Learning Thai Bang Saen/Pattaya

Can somebody please reccomend a teacher to give me lessons in thai?

My goal is fluency plain and simple ,I am highly motivated and feel there is only so far i can go on my own (its not that far...just pidgin)...I thought i was doin ok but my tones are all over the place and i am determined. If there are no recommendations on a teacher I could get maybe 2-3 times a week then i would interested in finding some one available for 2-3 hours on a saturday in pattaya for intense practice/learning

.Ideally would like somebody with plenty of experience and could provide written materials and/or audios and has a structured course that they could give me an overview of. I am open to negotiating prices.I will study with a falang as a last resort, I am also willing to split the price with anyone else looking for something similar.

Many thanks!

I live in Pattaya and have had 5 different teachers here...none of whom have greatly impressed me. I am now self studying and am at a conversational level, working slowly towards fluency. Forum member Kris Williams tried the schools here then decided it was worth it to commute to Bangkok to get better instruction. He said that Pro Language was the least bad of the schools in Pattaya and I would agree.

You said: "I will study with a falang as a last resort"

I did a few lessons with Bret Whiteside via skype and think he is good though a bit expensive at about 1000 baht/hour. As a native English speaker who learned Thai as an adult I think he is better suited to teaching than a Thai because he has already gone through the same difficulties that you will face. If money wasn't an issue then I would be studying with him full time. I don't think I can post links here so if you're interested I can pm you his details or answer any other questions.

Good luck.

Hello Groid !

I understand you live in Bangsaen. So do I.

I am French but my English is not so bad and my Thai is probably better...

I have been living in Thailand for the last ten years and started learning Thai from then.

I would not say that my Thai is perfect and I am improving everyday, reading the newspaper, exchanging mails and living in a 100 % environment.

I was a translator and have learned a few other languages. I know the grammar, can explain any difficulty with practical examples.

I have a lot of material, books and dictionaries, most of it in English since there is not much available in French.

Then, I have been teaching English to a Thai girl, 35, well educated, for the last 2 years. She eventually became my girlfriend and she would be happy to have an opportunity to practice English.

She would be an excellent help for pronunciation and specific difficulties.

If you are interested, please mail me at : [email protected]

Of course, I am ready to meet you any time.

You can have a look at that site too, where I post everyday, helping beginners : thailanguage.com (my nickname is Claude06thailand)

Hi there,

Do you know of any schools or thai tutors in the bang saen area? I would like to at least take a basic course to learn thai. I can speak a little bit but I need a lot of help.

Thank you
