Taxi Time From Don Muang To New Airport

Featured Replies

There are some 2007-2008 threads on this subject, but I'm trying to help a friend who's coming to Thailand for a visit. The question:

What's the travel time (best case/worst case) from the old airport to the new, leaving Don Muang at about 0900 on a weekday?

Second question: what's the approximate cost for a taxi for that trip?

All updated info appreciated.

Using the expressway around 250baht plus expressway fees would be average.

Time could be from 30minutes upwards.

There is also a shuttle bus between the two, and also the bus 555 (buses with the first two numbers being 55- go to Swampy)

Thanks for the timely reply!

I would allow an hour transfer time and dont think you will go far wrong ??

Yup, we live about 10km north of Don Mueang, it rarely takes more than an hour to Swampy from home.

Does Don Muang have a taxi stand or do I have to flag one down? I like the way the new airport does it......all the taxis that line up use their meter and generally get you where you're going the quickest way possible. 50 baht extra is fair...to me.

How about Don Muang?

When flying in to Don Muang I exit At the departure gates and take a taxi that has just dropped off departing passengers. Exit at arrival gates: I believe it is the same as Swampy ie 50 baht ticket.

On A late friday afternoon and it's raining, and maybe an accident or 2,can take A couple of hours.

Bangkok taxis are cheap but 250 is an underestimate. It would cost not much less than that (including tolls) to go from Sukhumvit to Suvarnabpum.

I reckon it's more like 350 to 400 baht (including the 50 baht taxi premium when catching a taxi from the rank that exists outside both terminals at Don Meuang) plus tolls of about 70. I base that on a taxi journey I did from DM to OnNut 10 days ago at 9:00am one weekday. There were (unexpectedly to me) no hold-ups on the tollway and it took only 25 mins to On Nut, so I would put the range at 45 mins if no hold-ups to 1 hour max to get to Suvarnabpum. Taxis were frequent and the queue (at DM Terminal 2) was about a 5 minute wait.
