Okay. Silly question, maybe. I have all the required docs for a non imm O visa via the Thai Embassy in Singapore (marriage cert, etc, etc). My question is about the 400,000 Baht in the bank. Do I need to have 400,000 in the bank for 2 months or can I have it for one week before I go to Singapore? I will actually have 1M Baht by the time I go, but not sure if there is a requirement for how long it needs to be in the bank.

I can always go the monthly income route, but rather just show my bank book.

Bank/income is for one year extensions of stay from Immigration inside Thailand. What a consulate may require for a non immigrant O visa (90 day entry max) would range from proof of marriage/wife id and home register copies to proof of having funds (but have not seen any use immigration requirement of funds in bank two months). KL will issue multi entry with proof of 100k in bank account.

If you meet extension of stay requirements and have a week or more on current entry there is no need to exit Thailand as a non immigrant visa entry can be obtained from immigration for 2,000 baht and one year extension of stay is only 1,900 baht.

Thanks all. I had the wife call the Embassy in Singapore. She said they were rude and short and yes will only do single entry or double entry. So looks like side trip to Laos now.

(shocking they were rude to her, guess all civli servants are the same world wide!)

I'm not clear on that. Can I actually get a one-year extension to a non-immigrant O visa in Thailand?

Incidentally, the consulate in Hull did require proof of income, and would have preferred to see a bank book, when they gave me a non-immigrant O visa in July this year.

This thread is about marriage extension of stay (400k bank account). Do not believe Hull requires any proof of income for such visa issue. Suspect you obtained on basis of being age 50 and retirement which does have an income requirement at Hull.

You can always extend a non immigrant O visa entry if meeting requirements of police order 777/2551. For retirement that is age 50 or more, income of 65k per month per embassy letter or bank deposit of 800k for two months or a combination to meet the 800k per year. Apply during the last 30 days of any entry.

Thank you Lopburi3.

That is exactly my position and you have made the situation very clear to me. Much appreciated.
