Freelance Work Permit - Application Process

I recall about 6 weeks ago that new rules were announced concerning issue of work permits. This included allowing offshore companies to apply for work permits and for freelancers (not beer bar freelancers!) to also apply for work permits.

I've heard nothing more about the work permit process for freelancers/self-employed.

Can anyone provide more details about this?

Other than the article that announced the new rules, have not seen any information on it. The labour office might be your best source.

I was also hoping to find some more information on this topic.

I did check a few days ago at the local labor office (Korat) and it was the first they had heard of it. They told me that they wouldn't be able to process a freelancer work permit unless they get directives from Bangkok.
