johnnywishbone
i believe you're in error. sending the rubbers was an intelligent common sense move. odd to find a government in touch with reality. aside from sexual activity, rubbers can be blown up like balloons. they can be twisted together to make puppies, rabbits, etc. used rubbers should be washed before being used for this purpose. jmho, jp

khaowong1
OMG!!!! I really don't think anyone who is stranded in the middle of a flooded village is in any mood for SEX!!!! This news MUST be a big JOKE....rite?? Ha Ha Ha. I was thinking the same thing. How about flying in inner tubes instead. or water wings. Condoms, you have to be kidding me. These are surely human beings, not animals. Right? The Thai government sometimes amazes me. Miracle Thailand.
TallGuyJohninBKK
Dunno about you guys, but my size of condoms can easily be used as water-proof footwear.... No problem at all...
Tropicalevo
Smart move though, and they can be put to further use afterward: fill them up with sand and reinforce the dams to prevent further floading... Best use so far.
justcruisin
Nah the condoms will only be used for "other" purpose"s. As I read it out in fits of laughter, my wife said that they will not fornicate while sitting on the roof. Good rationale !
serenitynow
Well we know what one of the volunteers has on his mind. Wonder if he is paddling around in his boat, making home visits to pass out the relief items? Thai newscast I have been watching show those doing a lot of the sandbagging to be younger women. Doubt if they will be real amorous at the end of a day of throwing sandbags. True, but they will be tired and maybe even ready for a beer. As most of the sex amongst Thais (Asians really) more resembles rape than consensual sex it makes sense. The thing is, why would a rapist care if he's using a condom? Buchholz
Sending Condoms to flood victims, has to be one of the Top Dumbest things Thai Government has done. What idiot thought of this idea. As per the OP, it would seem it came from Public Health Ministry (headed by Witthaya Buranasiri) and The Emergency Medical Institute of Thailand (headed by Sirima Jaiplum). . bkkjames
I wonder what happened with the regular supply of condoms? From any I have seen over the years, the packaging seems pretty air tight. Did they just a float away or something? I have been watching the river daily here in bkk and have not noticed any unusual quantities floating by. The government did give out 5,000 boots for the 2,400,000 affected. .

siampolee
P..T.P. ( Personal Thaksin property) are regularly shafting the Thai people, the condoms are for the use of the local P.T.P. puppets so as they are not infected with the spreading DEMOCRACY and TRUTH VIRUS that is spreading in the affected areas among the affected people who now see just what the P.T.P. agenda is. Thaksin and family first P.T.P. own you, we paid for you suckers.
007
I looked for "SATIRE" and nothenation. This seems to be real news. There's got to be a reason some people call Thailand the 'world sex(trade) center'... But no worries, if there are not enough Durex, then they can always use 'Esarn condoms', i.e. 7-Eleven plastic bags, like some teenagers reportedly do. robert00
"airlift condoms and other emergency health supplies". All my life I never knew condoms were emergency health supplies. How stupid of me. Back in the 60s we dropped "emergency health supplies" to the Hmong in Laos but they forgot the condoms. You don't understand, these condoms should be used as life jackets, or buoyancy objects in order to stay afloat.
