Im looking for a good temple where basically anyone can enter and enjoy a momemt of silence for however long they wish.

Here is an example:

When in Vientiene, Laos a tour guide took me to a temple. There was a buddah surrounded by a large floor where people could sit and pray or meditate.

It was so quiet and peacefull. It was like taking a mini vacation without going anywhere.

My experience coming to temples in Bangkok has been that sometimes there are events going on when you show up. Or the area with the buddah only has

a small seating area where people come, make a donation, and then quickly pray and walk away.

I really wish I could find a place where one can stay a bit longer and not have all the hoopla surronding everything. Another place like this is the Washington DC

national cathedral. It is quiet and you can sit in silence for as long as you please.

Does anyone know of a temple like this in Bangkok. The only thing I have found that comes close is a good 1 or 2 hour massage.

Thanks

Wat Pathum Wanaram between Central World and Siam Paragon. Lots of female nuns meditating here. Very peaceful. Great place for meditating. Cant think of a better place, this is probably exactly what you're after.

I recommend Wat Po. It is a large complext. There is a very nice building with a rug that is very pleasant. I probably sat for about two hours when I was there. The big reclining buddha is in a separate building.

Thanks everybody. In a funny coincidence my thai wife cam in the room after I posted this. She searched Google in Thai and actually alot of Thais who moved here from other provinces asked the same thing.

The one in between Central World and Siam Paragon is a good one. The closest one to me is just off the BTS at Punnawhiti. I cant remember the name but I went over on motorcycle taxi. It was absolutely huge. It was quiet and peaceful and only about 4 people were in there.

I was recently at Wat Suthat and found it to be very peaceful, there were practically no tourists. We were there around the time of prayer so there were some people in the chapel, but there are plenty of other places to go to be alone, or else just go at a time where prayer is not on (unless you want to join in the prayer). Wat Suthat is not really BTS accessible though. You can see it on a map here: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=Wat+Suthat,+Bangkok&hl=en&cid=2535893464704382881
