Bangkok To Chiang Mai By Car

Featured Replies

In late November we will be driving from Bkk to CM and rather then spend the night in Sukhothai, as we have done the past few of years, I thought for something different we would stop in Tak for the night then procede on to Inthanon NP the next day. Any suggestions for a place to stay in Tak? Also which route do you think best from Tak to Inthanon National Park? Last trip we went north on Route 1 to route 106 but 106 was a pretty boring drive although by the map it's the most direct way. Has anyone driven from Tak taking Route 105 along the Burma border to 108 which takes you north CM and past the national park? I'd like to know how the drive is on 105 that runs along the border ut to route 108.

There is a multi story hotel on the riverfront next to the market. We generally pay about 900 baht a night with breakfast. They have some cheaper rooms. The room we get has a beautiful view over the river. Hotel and breakfast nothing really special but OK.

Not really answering your question but I think Khamphaeng Phet is a much nicer place to overnight

Nice hotel and some good eating places

Assuming the floods are gone

I routed this way during my Road trip . Bkk - Suphan Buri- SingBuri - Chai Nat - Nakhon Sawan - K Phet - Tak Lampang - Lamphun - CMai

I stopped at N Sawan for a night rest, beautiful and cheap newly opened Boutique hotel. The next time I will try Tak , yet to visit the highly rated The Thi Lo Su Waterfall .

I missed the Congee just outside the hotel. The duck is awesome.
