Two Africans arrested

BANGKOK: -- Police yesterday arrested two African men wanted for allegedly running a drug trafficking network and seized 3 kilograms of cocaine and 110 grams of marijuana.

Nigerian Juliet Asubuekao and Clement Yaw from Ghana, both 39, were arrested at a Bangkok hotel, and charged with possessing drugs for sale.

Anti-narcotics officers said the arrests resulted from information given by a Filipino couple arrested in June, allegedly trafficking cocaine for Asubuekao.

Pol Col Itthiphol Kijsuwan said Asubuekao, who was also on an Indonesian police blacklist, was an influential drug trafficker who usually hired couriers to run drugs for him, and operated a distribution network both in Thailand and to other places via Malaysia.

Asubuekao’s smuggling routes to Malaysia went through Sadao district in Songkhla, and then distributed to Indonesia and Australia. Another route was Bangkok via China and Hong Kong, then on to Europe and the US, the officer said.
