October 23, 201114 yr There's an article in today's Times about HM the Queen (the UK one). She was giving an audience to a goverment minister who'd left her mobile on. When it rang the Queen said "Do answer it dear, it might be somebody important".

October 25, 201114 yr I think she's marvellous, my mother is about the same age and I'd hate to see her with the sort of workload the Queen gets through in a year. But then, she probably gets better health care...
October 25, 201114 yr Poor old girl, soldiering on at 85 at a crushingly boring job, being pleasant to all sorts of people she never wanted to see in the first place. I know it would be nice to have all the perks (but wouldn't they pall too?), but she must long sometimes to wander out for a bit of shopping without everybody recognising her (and be able to handle money for a change!). I'm amazed that she does keep a sense of humour (not like some queens I know, Endure; no, not you... other queens). Edited October 25, 201114 yr by isanbirder
