Hi, live in Thailand but have thoughts on the health of my parents back in UK, both my parents have had strokes in the last 2 years, we visited them in UK a few months back and was surprised to see how changed they both looked since I saw them on the previous visit, my sister makes a very good job of taking care of them in UK and my younger brother pops in from time to time to see they are doing ok, but I was curious as to should anything happen to them whether there would be any considerations in speeding up the process of a visitor visa application for my wife(thai) to allow us both to travel in an event such as a serious health issue or worse? my wife has had a couple of visits to UK to stay with them and has a close (regular communications) relationship with both my parents, and I know they would both want to see her should something happen.

Just wondered whether anyone has experienced a similar situation.

Thanks

Hopefully you will not need to do so but if you do your wife will still need to go through the, family, visit visa process.

When she goes to the VFS she should explain the urgency of the application and provide evidence, there is a fast track process for this type of eventuality and they can, and do, issue visas in a day or two.

If your wife is going to be a regular visitor to The UK, you might to consider applying for a longer term visa now, they don't come cheap though.

Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks OG,, apart from their strokes,, they are still chugging along nicely and neither of them are quite ready to pull the plug on us yet, but I did get a surprise as to how much they had deteriorated since I last saw them, and it just got me thinking, just want to be prepared as one day the time will come,, additionally I would like to have some of the application documents at hand and semi ready for the wife as I work a month away at a time and depending of the seriousness I may not make the return to LOS and have to fly directly to UK leaving the wife to sort out her side of things,,

I think we touched on the regular visitor issue in a previous post where I believe it may have been yourself who gave me some helpful advice earlier this year when we made the last visit visa, as we did consider trying for a longer one then but decided against it based on the limited number of entries she has had to date, maybe she would still require another visit before her chances increase considerably for a longer one, but i'll bear that in mind as its another option.

Thanks Again
