shariq607
some people were mentioning on some local thai forums that all the internet traffic in thailand is routed through the exchange in bangkok and they constantly monitor all traffic in case of blocking some websites like they banned most of the sites in thailand this exchange adds 30ms+ ping time this could be somewhat true since many of you know that thailand blocks certain websites everyday the main problem we face is filtering and censoring this is seriously affecting gamers in thailand Edited October 30, 2011 by shariq607
heykki
Not all traffic is routed through Bangkok, but most is. It's not for monitoring purposes, though.
bangkockney
Shaving 30 ms is small fry especially when connecting to European / US servers.
rakman
Plus, ping (ICMP) is not a priority packet and often given a delayed route though the routers. YMMV.
