Can someone help me clarify a point on page 4 of 5 of the document checklist?. Third item from the bottom states: "Evidence that you and your fiancé genuinely intend to live in a married relationship. See: Evidence of a genuine and continuing relationship". There is a link here to the immigration website and it states that both applicant and sponsor are to submit a witnessed written statement each, outlining their past, current and future relationship. No problem here, all fairly self explanatory. However, in the very next check box down it states: " Written statements from you and from your fiancé detailing the history of your relationship (for example when and how you met, when you became engaged, joint activities, significant events in the relationship) and your future plans as husband and wife". Is this not a duplicate of the previous check list box? Surely we do not have to submit two statements each containing exactly the same facts unless I am missing something. Any advice appreciated.

Which document checklist are you referring? I had a look at the one I have saved here and it's different to what you state (October 2010) so I went and downloaded the latest one

from this page: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/how-to-apply.htm

direct link: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/_pdf/309-100-checklist.pdf

and it too is different (dated November 2011), so go grab that one and compare the differences.

Earlier this year they went and updated a whole bunch of forms and booklets and they introduced a whole lot of duplication and so I imagine they have re-revamped them again in order to cut it back. I had gone to submit our application and VFS wouldn't take it because in the previous month a new application form had come out and to be honest, the difference was insignificant. Looks like they did the booklets at the same time...

But in order to try and "guess" at a best answer:

The questions/checkpoints have a subtle difference. Although the first one has a link to the "evidence of a genuine and continuing relationship", that link (I just had a look) is more about the statement itself and what should be included, whereas the checkpoint could refer to other items to support your statement, such as photographs, call records, text messages, emails, bank transactions, anything in joint names, etc etc etc. Then the next chckpoint is the statement(s) it/themselves.

If you have a look at the latest one, it appears that duplicity has been removed. So grab that one and use it as a guide.

If I am using a wrong checklist, let me know and I'll have a look at it as well.

What I have said above is only my interpretation, there are other people lurking in here that work in this area so maybe one of them will come along and guide you better.

Also remember there is a checklist in the back of the application form and both of these lists are very similar but also different. So make sure you include things from both lists. I can't remember now, but I do recall there is something in the separate checklist that isn't in the application form checklist and someone only pointed it out to me at the very last minute :-)

Thanks for the feedback. I downloaded the documents perhaps three or four months back so will download again and compare. I know when we turned up at the VSF office in Bangkok last December with the tourist visa application we had to hurriedly redo it as it had just been superceded.

I have just checked them out Madivad. I have the checklist for the Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300) dated Sept 2010. The link you added above shows a checklist for Partner Visa - Offshore, Temporary & Permanent (subclass 309 & 100) dated Nov 2011. I am a little confused now. Is the one you gave me a link to an update of the one I had originally? Thankyou.

My bad. I missed the point you were talking about a prospective marriage visa. It will be in a similar page. I'm out at the moment with bad Internet. I'll try and find it and post a link.

Ok I just checked and you do have the latest one. Sorry about that.

Looking at the first one you mention, it is about evidence that the relationship will continue. Basically use the the statement from the next point to reinforce the point.

The best example would be if you have already lodged your intent to marry in Aus (maybe on her last/first visit) then that is evidence of the fact. Wedding invitations, planning etc, statements from friends and relos indicating they know of your intent and believe it to be genuine*. Anything you are planning to do together which supports your intent.

It is a very hard point to provide evidence of and they are aware of that fact. Just do the best you can.

Good luck

*i know there is a separate checklist item for friends statements, just another area where points cross each other.

Well we can agree to disagree. If you don't want to provide any helpful insight, then why bother posting at all? If I'm wrong, why don't you try and help the OP instead of just having a go at me.

Yes but smarter than you turkeys lol.

You would include a letter (on letterhead) from the licensed marriage celebrant that is intending to marry you. That shows intent. A NOIM is not always available - especially if the celebrant hasn't lodged it.

If you consider the information posted by others to be incorrect; why don't you post what you consider to be the correct information?
