Change In Needed Shots Due To Flooding?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I will be visiting Thailand in a few weeks. I plan on being in the cities, but maybe a nature park, or two. Not exactly sure where yet, but most likely Bangkok and the south. Would I need to get the Japansse Ec. shot? How about Typhoid? I saw in an earlier post that malaria meds are not needed. Just curious because of the flooding.

Thanks!

Naah dont really need anything provided you are not going into the jungle/really remote places

The flooding does not introduce any new requirements (although for those currently living in flooded areas, the need for Hepatits vaccine becomes even more pressing).

Floods or not:

Japanese b Encehalitis vaccine : if you are going to be spending time in rural areas where pigs are raised. Not necessary if you will be only in cities/at the beach.

Typhoid vaccine - not very effective and not necessary

Hep A - essential if you have not already had it (you may have, it's been part of the routine immunization schedule in most countries for some time)

Hep B - advisable especially if you may be having sex with locals

Rabies -very advisable

You need to be vaccinated against drowning and crocodile attack. Any good homoeopath will be able to provide these for you.

Green Mamba anti-venom...:whistling: a must for those tourists visiting BKk

What about cholera/travel diarrhea vaccine to protect from potentially contaminated drinking water?
